Life continues to grow

About 2 months ago we were informed by our oldest daughter that she is expecting a baby with her boyfriend.   It came as a shock to all of us but I thank God that she chose to keep the baby and to continue on with the pregnancy.   I know that life will be a challenge as it always is with a new baby to take care of but this will teach us all lessons of patience and acceptance even when we don't want it.   I truly believe that everything happens for a reason we just don't know it until many years later.    She is now beginning her 2nd trimester and is anxious for the day when her belly won't look 'fat' to the world but actually pregnant.   I enjoy spending time with her when she is not at work or with her boyfriend and when I am not working or sleeping.    She has a really sweet personality and loves to laugh out loud.   What a great beginning for a wonderful life.    There will be many obstacles ahead for her but as we listen to each other and accept the choices that we make in life everyday then I know that this child will be much loved and enjoyed by all the people in it's path.
I have to say that when she found out what her blood type was she wasn't too happy with me,  b/c she is rH negative which means she has to get one shot before birth and possibly a second one after the baby is born.  Ahh,  the events of pregnancy.
Next post will be about my second daughter who is about to finish up her college undergraduate schooling.  What a busy life we lead.

The days go by

Well here it is 10 days after the last time I blogged.   It might take awhile to update everyone but here it goes.
My colonoscopy went without a hitch but I must say that drinking all the stuff the night before was really yucky and thankfully I don't have to do that again for another 10 years......
My brother was in town for about 5 days due to his truck needing work on it before he could hit the open road again.   So we visited, went to dinner and spent time apart ( I always need that) so that we wouldn't bug each other.    I would drive him several times to the truck terminal so that he could check on the progress of his truck,   at one point there was a bit of miscommunication between my brother and the manager but all worked out and he drove northwest to pick up a load and head to Ky.    During the time my brother was here I got to meet Sarah's boyfriend Nathan for the first time.    I had heard a lot about him and he seemed to be the person she talked about.   Quiet, respectful, and no trouble.    Since then he has been back here to see her and we have gone out to dinner and just gotten to know him a little bit more.     He seems very nice and appears to really like Sarah.  I am very happy for her and proud of her for being such a sweet person.

Lisa is very busy at school finishing up her Sr. year in college and thinking about her future.  Grad school or working for a year and then grad school.   She is doing a lot of thinking about that.    We are proud of all her accomplishments.

My husband has been in Florida all last week and will be there until Thurs. of next week,  I miss him and his presence.   I think the dog misses him too.   Jeff is the one that takes the dog on a walk.   I don't like to b/c the dog likes to stop and it bugs me that I can't keep up a normal pace when he stops to sniff etc.....LOL

Well I guess I will close for now so until next time.....:)

Weekends zip by fast

Well this weekend has surely gone by fast.   My brother showed up in his truck (Knights Trucking) and has been here for the weekend and yesterday and today.    It was his birthday yesterday (55) so I took him out to dinner and then he and my oldest daughter went to my sisters house to have cake.   Our son needed to go to bed since he now has school again....LOL  By the way, the time they left to go was at 9:00 pm.,  we had dinner late,  was waiting for my sister to finish up with her son and the selling of his car.   Took longer than they anticipated.   Oh well.
Today I am on a  clear liquid diet only due to a scheduled colonoscopy tomorrow am.   I hope I can get through this without getting too hungry it's gonna be tough b/c it's only 7:45 and I am already hungry.   On  the upside I might loose 5lbs for a couple of days.   Around  4pm I have to drink this solution that is supposed to help 'clean' me out so the Dr. can see what he needs to see.   Tonight is going to be a super "fun" event.   AND Sarahs boyfriend is supposed to be here later this afternoon to meet us for the first time.   Now that doesn't seem like good planning on our parts.   Oh well,  it will be an adventure to say the least.
I know this is short but if I dont' keep up with it then I will stop posting so here is todays post and I'll post something tomorrow about my wonderful adventures at the Dr.s.....Ha ha ha...

Oh BTW I did finish the book I was reading " Where the Lillie Bloom "  and it was a good story.   Thank you Lisa for giving it to me for Christmas.   I loved the strength and passion Mary Call had in trying to keep Roy Luthers' promise.    Times were tough back then when families tried to live off the land and didn't have much transportation to get around.  Although life was much simpler as well,  something I know that I would like very much.

wel that's about all for now so a post will return tomorrow if I'm not too sedated....hehehe

finding recipies

During the Christmas Holidays I was going to make a cake with a recipie that I thought I found in one of my Taste Of Home magazines.   Well much to my surprise I actually saw it on the internet while looking for something else and I sent it to my folder and guess what?   I just discovered it today.    I really wish my daughter was home from college so that we could make it together b/c that was going to be our plan while she was here.    Well I guess I will have to make it and take some down to her when I decide to go visit her at school.
The cake by the way is called  Acorn Squash cake and I am really looking forward to making it and trying it out.    I assume it will not taste like squash and just have some really good flavor kind of like zucchini bread.
The other day I started reading a book that I got for Christmas called 'Where the Lilies Bloom',   I am only on chapter three b/c it is hard to read and listen to my son ask questions while he is trying to show me something on the computer.     I guess I need to read it when there is nobody around to interrupt me.
Speaking of my son,  today is the first day all week that school started on time.   Mon. thru Wed.  he had snow days and on Thurs. it was a two hour delay.    Of course today it is only a half day b/c it is exam week.    I guess those kids got off pretty easy this week.

Well enough said for today.   Enjoy the weekend and I'll probably post something else on Monday.

Dads birthday

Today is my dad's birthday and I think he is 84.   He is in as good health as anyone can be at this age and is still very active.   He goes to the rec center every morning and eats a very good diet.   He is where I sometimes draw my strength from and where I am fearless.   Because of what he stands for and taught me I have been able to experience many wonderful things in my life.  I wouldn't be the person I am today if it wasn't for him.    Anyway,   Happy Birthday Dad!

It is another snow day here in North Carolina and I didn't have to work last night.   Horay for the little things in life.

snowy days in NC

So, last night I was very skeptical about the weather report to have snow in the Charlotte area so I was all prepared to get up at the crack of dawn to get my son off to school when lo and behold there was snow on the ground at 4:30 am and as a result school was cancelled.    The next adventure was for my daughter to go to work.   I wondered 'would they close the mall?'  No such luck,  she attempted the drive out of the subdivision and ended up coming back home only to have her dad take her to work as soon as he got ready.   So here I am relaxing at home enjoying the snow falling to the ground and  the time is 11:30 and my husband calls to say I am taking you out to lunch....woo hoo I was excited but that meant that I would have to get in the shower and get ready.   No problem since I seem to be good at that stuff, besides who wants to miss out on a lunch date with your spouse.   We had lunch, walked around the mall till our daughter was done with work and then drove home.   It is warm and cozy in the house and I'm glad I'm home.
As I sit here on the computer I am looking outside the window and what do I see but North Carolinians sled ridding behind a pick-up truck....I think sledding down a hill would be much more fun but if that's all they got then why not!!???
So I guess the weather man was correct this time and I'm glad for him b/c there would have been a lot of sad kids in the neighborhood b/c they would be at school instead.

On the upside,   its spahgetti for dinner....

Warm on the homefront

Well this morning when we woke up the house was freezing cold.   The downstairs heater stopped working and it was only in the mid 20's last night.    What a way to wake up.   But thankfully the guy that fixed it last time was able to come and asses the problem and fortunately it was a quick but expensive fix.   Now it is warm again.
Today I went shopping with daughter #2 and MIL while my son was at school and daughter #1 was at work.    It was a nice day.    We are supposed to get snow this weekend and I don't really care.   I don't think that is too good b/c if it really does snow like they say I am not prepared.   Oh well, we will just get cozied up in the house and not go anywhere and eat soup for the next couple of days.    Usually the snow they say we are going to get never gets as far south so I don't think I have to worry.
Welp this is my post for today.
